Playing tennis outdoors has its own unique charm. However, it lasts only as long as the weather permits; a tennis balloon is a good alternative. In our climate, weather conditions suitable for outdoor sports are favorable only for part of the year. Fall and winter effectively make it impossible to use outdoor tennis courts. However, there is a solution to this problem: tennis balloons.
A tennis ball—what is it?
What exactly is a tennis balloon? It is simply a modern structure in the form of a pressurized envelope that provides a roof over tennis courts. These are so-called pneumatic domes, which can be erected in a flash over any sports facility. And all this without unnecessary red tape and the associated costs. They do not require a building permit, as they are erected under a notification procedure, allowing the structure to cover the court for 180 days. This extends the court’s usable season to a full year! This method can also be used to cover, among other things:
- padel courts
- soccer fields
- basketball courts

An inflatable tennis court—how does it work?
These types of domes consist of a lightweight, multi-layered membrane and a special heating and air-blowing system that inflates the dome’s membrane, thereby creating a tennis balloon. The structure also includes doors and a lighting system. The pressure inside the balloon is maintained between 2.5 and 3.5 hPa, which ensures the structure’s high resistance to loads caused not only by wind but also by snow.
A huge advantage of tennis balloons is that they can be set up in no time—it takes no more than one day. It can be dismantled and transported to another location just as quickly. This is one of the most functional solutions for covering open-air sports facilities during the fall and winter months—whether they are used commercially or are entirely private courts.
