Arched Halls – Practical and Quick-to-Build Roofing Solutions for Sports Fields

Arched Hall – What Is It?

This is a building structure featuring an arched roof. This design is extremely functional, as it prevents snow and rain from accumulating on the roof. Arched structures of this type are typically used for industrial or agricultural purposes and can serve as production facilities, agricultural buildings, livestock barns, or warehouses, as well as service facilities such as diagnostic stations, hangars, and garages.

The ability to incorporate self-service skylights into the hall’s walls reduces operating costs, and the lightweight, functional design allows for quick and inexpensive installation. Depending on the facility’s intended use and the investor’s budget, these types of halls can be erected without the need to lay foundations beforehand.

Importantly, arched structures can be installed on a foundation that can be freely shaped after the structure has been erected; in other words, laying the foundation, leveling the ground, or insulating the foundation can be done at any time.

The arched shape of the hall ensures ideal air temperature distribution throughout the facility and adequate ventilation. Thanks to their design—which typically does not require additional internal stabilization in the form of load-bearing walls or columns— arched halls are extremely convenient and functional in both use and layout.

Arched Halls – Construction Technologies and Hall Dimensions

An arched hall is built on a steel or aluminum frame. For steel structures, the hall is most commonly covered with:

  • sheet metal
  • a synthetic material covering, e.g., PVC, tarpaulin, etc.

The building’s cladding can be supplemented with additional insulation.

The arched load-bearing structure, which every arched hall has, is extremely stable, making it possible to construct buildings—even those over twenty meters wide and more than 7 meters high—in a simple and cost-effective manner. The time required to erect the hall depends on whether you opt for foundations or build the structure directly on natural ground. Prefabricated arched halls are constructed very quickly using ready-made components that an assembly team assembles on site. They are ideal for roofing tennis halls.
